Le squash sport olympique ?

De plus, si les USA et le Canada commencent à s'y investir au point d'inscrire 143 jeunes (128 Américains et 15 Canadiens) au Pioneer Junior Open à Cologne, d'organiser un stage à Drachten aux Pays-Bas dans lequel est inclus la participation au Pioneer et au DJO 07 (Dutch Junior Open 2007) c'est, sans doute, qu'ils commencent à trouver intéressants les débouchés de ce sport.

As junior squash continues to gain in popularity in the USA and Canada, this year's Dutch Junior Open has proved to be the focus of a burgeoning global sport's growing pains. Canadians are crying foul, while the Dutch tournament organizers insist they are doing all they can to accomodate a growing flood of North Americans.

The tipping point for a large group of affluent American and Canadian players seeking experience and ranking points in Europe, has been a limit of 64 entrants at the Dutch and Pioneer (German) Opens, based on ESF junior ranking points (earned during winter-spring European events) which is putting a signficant number of American and Canadian hopefuls in an Amsterdam "B" draw. Most had already booked plane flights or places in travel camps before knowing they would be placed in the nonranking draws. The top coaches bringing players from North America insist that the rules as to seedings have been changed by the ESF at the last minute without notice. ESF officials claim the rules have not changed.

Autre référence intéressante, la préparation de la délégation américaine aux Prochains Championnats du Monde Juniores, compétition qui est organisée tous les deux ans. La Belgique était le pays hôte il y a deux ans et les gagnants étaient l'Egyptienne Raneem El Weleily (contre l'Indienne Joshna Chinappa) pour le titre individuel et Hong Kong en inter pays. Hong Kong accueille l'édition de cette année du 1er au 11 août.
